Description

The sculptural group "Adrift," created in 1907 by John Cassidy, is an allegorical composition located to the south-west of the Central Public Library on Peter Street in Manchester. This bronze sculpture features a male figure standing on a rock, waving a piece of cloth, while his wife and children lie exhausted below, representing survivors of a shipping accident. The statue has been moved several times and was re-erected next to the Central Public Library in October 2014.
