Description
This building, located at 60-66 High Bank in Manchester, is a house with two attached cottages, now converted into four cottages. It dates from around 1800 and has been altered over time. The structure is made of brown brick laid in Flemish bond and features a slate roof. The plan is L-shaped, with the former house (Nos 64 and 66) on the left, which has a rear wing, and single-fronted cottages (Nos 60 and 62) continuing to the right.
The building is two storeys tall with basements and has a four-window range. Nos 60 and 62 have doorways on the left, while No. 64 has a doorway next to that of No. 62. All doorways have flights of steps and altered doors, with sidelights on one side only. The basement windows have been altered, and there are segmental-headed windows at the ground floor featuring 20th-century six-light casements, while the first floor has three-light casements that replaced the original horizontal sliding sashes, all with stone sills. The roof is hipped at the left end, with a double chimney stack at this end of the ridge, a single chimney stack located between Nos 60 and 62, and a gable chimney on the right. The left return wall has three windows and an inserted doorway for No. 66. The interior has not been inspected.
