Description
No. 9 and 9A Lower Bridge Street is a town house that has been converted into a shop and offices. The building dates from the early 19th century, with its frontage reflecting this period. The interior was rebuilt in the 1970s. The structure is made of brown brick, featuring Flemish bond on the front and English garden wall bond on the north return. It has a hipped grey slate roof that runs at a right angle to the front.
The building stands four storeys high and consists of one bay. The modern shopfront is complemented by a tall round-arched recessed porch on the south side, which includes cast-iron gates leading to 12 stone steps that provide access to the Row walk of Nos. 11 and 11A Lower Bridge Street. Each upper storey features a flush tripartite sash window with 4; 12; 4 panes, a painted stone sill, and a false wedge lintel. The building is finished with a cornice and blocking course made of painted stone. The interior is modern.
