Description

The garden wall and gate piers to The Friars, likely built in the 18th century, are constructed from sandstone and brick. The western section features a sandstone flush plinth, approximately 30 brick courses, and a plain sandstone coping. The square gate piers are made of painted stone, with square-cut plinths and bases leading up to pyramidal pier-caps. Note that the eastern return of the wall, which borders Bank House, is associated with the wall and gate piers to the forecourt of No. 18 Bank House. The section of the wall facing Weaver Street has been rebuilt in modern brick and is not included in this description.
