Lodge, now part of wine bar, and public conveniences. 1904. By John Douglas, then senior partner of Douglas and Minshull. Builder W Browne. For Chester City Council. Sandstone, brick and timber frame; red-brown clay tile roof. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. The shop to Frodsham Street has replaced half-glazed double doors at left corner, under timber-framed tourelle on tall brackets to side of doors; 2-course sandstone plinth; row of small-framed panels; small-pane shop window. The first floor has a 2-light leaded casement to each exposed face of octagonal tourelle, with small-framing below. A 3-light leaded casement under dormer gable to Frodsham Street; bargeboards with carved arrises; hipped roof with tourelle roof expressed as spire with lead cross as finial. The south face with some alterations has shop window next to entrance, braced oak beam over altered entry to men's lavatory; stone-dressed doorway to women's lavatory. Close-studded first floor; 2 windows in altered flat-roofed dormer. INTERIOR has no visible features of special interest.
