Description

Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1744, constructed of red Flemish bond brick with a plain tile roof. It stands two storeys high with an attic. The entrance front features four bays, with a band of two bricks in depth between the ground and first floors and a dentilled band at the eaves. The doorway, located to the right of centre, has a 19th-century plank door with a plain surround. To the left of the doorway are two 3-light 19th-century casement windows with cambered heads, while to the right is one similar window and a blocked window of the same style at the far right. The first floor has similar window openings, with the far right window being open. Above the doorway is a rectangular datestone featuring an incised heart at the top, the initials R.L., and the date, all surrounded by moulded brick and alternately projecting bricks on the sides, topped with a pediment. The attic includes three gabled dormer windows from the 19th century. There are ridge chimney stacks located at right of centre and on the right-hand gable end. To the left and slightly recessed is the gable end of a range of farm buildings, which has cambered-headed window openings on each floor and a band of two bricks in depth between these floors, continuing to form an open courtyard. The right-hand end of this range is pebbledashed and features two gables, with the right gable dating from the 19th century. Inside, there are chamfered ceiling beams in two ground floor rooms and a staircase that has been removed from its original position, featuring a square newel post and splat balusters with mouldings on the slope.
