Description
Breeze is a house that was originally built as stables and a gardener's flat in 1902 by Walter Aston for Richard Harding Watt. It features a design in the Edwardian Free style, with a rectilinear plan and a gable facing the street. The building is two storeys high, with a three-storey tower topped by a cupola. The current entrance is located in the gable facing the street, while the former stable entry is on the north elevation. To the left of the gable, there is a door with margin lights, and below the eaves, a three-light wood mullioned window with latticed panes and a boarded apron can be found. The tower on the right has narrow windows with heavy blockwork lintels and some transoms, along with a high steeped parapet and a domed cupola. The north elevation features two wide segmentally-arched openings on the ground floor, which were originally stable entrances. Above these, there is a continuous band of windows with boarded aprons alternating with solid panels. The east gable showcases timber-framing between the stone angle piers. The interior has not been inspected. Breeze is part of a notable series of buildings constructed in Legh Road under the patronage of Richard Harding Watt, including The Old Croft.
