Description
The former stables, located 45 meters north of the Old Hall, were originally built in the late 16th century. The walls were mainly rebuilt in the 18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The structure features a partial stone plinth and is constructed of Flemish bond red brick, incorporating some yellow headers and irregular bond brickwork. The roof is made of Kerridge stone-slate with a stone ridge and has a long rectangular plan. There are six large openings below and three square pitchholes above. The left gable showcases complete small timber framing, including angle braces to the tiebeam and two diagonal struts. Inside, the building is tied with horizontal timbers, and the roof trusses consist of a tiebeam and two diagonal struts throughout, with windbracing that overlaps through the purlins and ridge. The building is listed for its group value only.
