Description
The sundial located 7 metres south of Bispham Parish Church (All Hallows) is a Grade II listed structure. It features a stone shaft, believed to be the base of a former cross, which is square in section and approximately 1 metre high. This shaft is mounted on an octagonal stone block that sits atop a circular stone disc. On the north side of the shaft, there are incised letters "IH," which stands for John Hull, the donor of the sundial. On the west side, the letters "RB" are present, likely representing Robert Broadbelt, the parish clerk from 1678 to 1715. The sundial plate was originally dated 1704 and included the names John Hull and Joh Hebblethwaite, along with the motto "Die dies Truditur," although only part of this inscription is now legible.
