Description
No. 5 Collingwood Street is a shop and offices built in 1898 by J.W. Taylor for J.C. Eno. The building is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features a Welsh slate roof, designed in a Free Baroque style. It stands four storeys high with attics and has three bays. The shop includes curved glass around a central set-back entrance, with a double door on the left leading to the house, which has an overlight above it.
The first floor showcases an arcade with round-headed windows, each featuring high keystones and cartouches between them, all under a serpentine cornice. The central second-floor window is adorned with Ionic pilasters and a pediment, while the outer bays and third floor have flat pilasters beside the windows. A prominent dentilled cornice runs along the top, and the central round-headed dormer is topped with a high broken pediment and an obelisk finial, flanked by consoles. The building is capped with a mansard roof.
