Description
Gibson Street Baths is a municipal washhouse and baths built between 1906 and 1907 by F. H. Holford. The building is constructed from sandstone ashlar with a Welsh slate roof featuring stone gable copings and a brick chimney. The main elevation consists of three storeys arranged in a 3:3:3 bay pattern, with the central three bays set beneath a pediment. The central section features round-arched surrounds for double doors with fanlights in the projecting side bays, which are topped by open pediments. There is a central bow window and carved panels above the doors. The upper floors have single sash windows flanking a shallow two-storey oriel. The three bays on either side contain stone cross windows, except for the first floor, which has a row of eight stone-mullioned windows. The building is finished with sill strings and a parapet.
