Description
The Church of St Mary Magdalene was rebuilt in 1730 after a fire, but it retains some Norman masonry in the nave walls and a largely Norman west front. This west front features five original windows and a 13th-century almond-shaped window above. Additionally, an 18th-century Venetian window has been inserted into this front. The upper part of the west tower dates from the 15th century. The church has a five-bay nave, with the interior largely restored in 1878, although the Georgian east window remains in its Corinthian setting. One of the south windows also has Georgian glass beneath an ogee canopy. The church contains a 15th-century font with a 17th-century cover, some fragments of Saxon sculpture, and a pair of effigies from the 14th century.
