Description
No 35 Wool Market is a building dating from around the 1830s. It is constructed of ashlar, with some areas painted. The building stands three storeys high and features a cornice, gable scrolls, and slender moulded pilasters that frame the upper storeys. The lower storey is particularly remarkable, as every piece of ashlar has a plain margin and is deeply fluted at a 45-degree angle, although the direction of the fluting varies. At the first floor level, there are two windows, a doorpiece, and a stringcourse, all of which are decorated with shallow enrichments that resemble chip carving but are in a non-representational style.
