Description
The walls and gatepiers to the south of Tritlington Old Hall were built in 1723. They are made of brick with ashlar dressings. The gatepiers are rusticated stone with attached jambs, featuring tall finials that are intricately carved to resemble baskets of fruit and flowers. A late 19th-century wrought-iron gate is present. The brick quadrant walls connect to angle pilasters and the front wall of the garden, all resting on chamfered stone plinths. These plinths extend to outer brick piers, which have moulded caps and large pineapple finials. A lower wall with shallow stone coping connects the outer right pier to the south-west corner of the Old Hall. The structure was erected by Deodatus Threlkeld, who remodeled the Old Hall and moved in during the same year.
