Description

48 Tweed Street is a two-storey building that forms the rear wing of No 11 Railway Street. It has unique curiosity value due to its elaborate Victorian ornamentation. The building features round-headed attic windows situated above an acanthus cornice. The entire wall surface is made of chiselled, patterned stone blocks. The attic windows are adorned with carved and scrolled architraves, and there are masks at all window lintels and keystones. The cornice skyline is decorated with busts and birds, including an eagle, which likely originated from Eagle House located around the corner.
