Description

Pennypie Farmhouse, likely built in the early 18th century and altered in the 19th century, is accompanied by adjacent farm buildings from the 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of roughly-coursed rubble with clay bonding and features large cut quoins. The farm buildings are also made of rubble and have stone slate roofs. The farmhouse has a linear plan with a short cross-wing at the east end.

On the south elevation, the house is two storeys high with three bays, which are slightly irregular. There are intermediate quoins between the second and third bays. The second bay has a renewed door with a blocked window above it, while the end bays feature 19th-century sash windows. The upper windows are positioned directly beneath the eaves, and there are stone stacks at both ends.

The farm buildings are divided into two sections: the left section is one storey with two wide bays. The first bay has a tall boarded door with a blocked overlight in an alternating-block surround, and a small window to the right. The second bay has a tall boarded door flanked by small windows. The right section projects as a two-storey gabled bay, featuring a stable door and an external stone stair leading to another boarded door, along with a pigeon hole and alighting platform in the gable. There are 20th-century buildings to the right and rear of the farm buildings, and a 20th-century outshut to the left of the house, which are not of interest.
