Description

The Boer War Memorial Fountain is a war memorial built in 1902. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and marble, with repairs made using pink concrete. The memorial features a stepped square base that has been covered in concrete in the late 20th century. Above this base is a tall, stepped square plinth that includes an inset marble inscription panel, with semicircular basins on the returns. The memorial is topped with a heavy, square canopy that has a wreathed empty plinth above it, supported by four marble columns, which shelter the figure of a soldier.
