Description
The War Memorial in Miners' Welfare Park, built around 1919, is constructed of ashlar stone. It features a stepped and moulded base supporting a rectangular die with an inscription beneath a festoon and drops. This is flanked by round columns adorned with roses on their abaci, which support an entablature that includes a festoon frieze beneath a dentil cornice, topped with scrolled cresting. The names of the war dead are inscribed on the front and sides of the base, with additional names from the 1939-45 conflict listed at the rear.
