Description
The outbuildings located approximately 10 yards north-east of Bellingham Rectory are former stables and a carriage house, dating from around 1820. They are constructed of coursed stone with ashlar dressings and feature a Lakeland slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has four bays. The central section includes segmental-arched double carriage doors, with flanking plank doors leading to the stables that have hit-and-miss overlights. Beyond these doors are half-slatted windows, with the left window now glazed in the lower part. Above, there are three granary openings; the left one has a slatted window, while the others have vertical glazing bars. All openings have a slight chamfer to their reveals and the building displays alternating quoins. There are outside stone stairs leading to the granary on the left return, and the roof is gabled with flat coping.
