Description

The Bank, now comprising two shops and flats, is a pair of houses dating from the early 19th century. Constructed in ashlar, the building has a roof of thin slates, likely synthetic, and stone chimneys. It is four storeys high and has a two-window front. A central recessed canted entrance leads to a passage door which provides access to a rear yard. Both flanking shop fronts feature plate-glass windows, with slender fluted pilasters; the right shop front also has paterae and low stall-risers, while the left incorporates a pierced cast-iron grille. A roll moulded cornice sits on a continuous fascia. The left shop is accessed through a door in the central passage, while the right shop has a recessed entrance between curved plate-glass. Tripartite sash windows in plain reveals are present on each floor, accentuated by sill bands and flat stone lintels. An eaves gutter cornice is situated below a low roof parapet. The roof terminates in truncated end chimneys. The interior has not been inspected.
