Description

The walls, piers, and gates to the Central Methodist Church in Bishop Auckland were built in 1903 by T.E. Davidson of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. They are constructed from rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and feature wrought-iron gates. The low walls are made of coursed rock-faced stone with chamfered ashlar coping and rise to higher sections at intermediate positions and beside the gate piers. The gate and angle piers are square ashlar with plinths and coped gabled tops. The wrought-iron gates leading to the church and the hall have Art Nouveau central panels.
