Description
The ice house, located 60 metres south-west of the road bridge crossing Ice House Dene, dates from around 1800. It is embedded in the south bank of Ice House Dene and features a circular plan. The interior is faced with narrow hand-made red bricks, while the access tunnel is constructed of random rubble. A round-arched tunnel leads down to an egg-shaped inner chamber that has a domed roof. The tunnel is semi-ruinous, and the inner chamber is partly filled in.
