Description
This building is a house that was formerly the Londonderry (Seaham Dene) railway station, dated 1875. It is constructed of rendered red and white brick and features a moderate-pitched Welsh slate roof with decorative cut files at the ridges. The layout is T-shaped, with a single-storey, three-bay facade, a short projecting rear wing, and an enclosed porch in the re-entrant angle to the right.
The building has a chamfered plinth, and the central bay projects with a gable. This bay contains a blocked door and flanking lancet windows with triangular heads, all set within decorative hooded lintels. Above this is a shield with a datestone, and the gable features pierced bargeboards with a central newel and pendants. The two flanking bays have 2-light windows with stop-chamfered mullions and reveals, projecting sills, and similar decorative lintels. The right return has two additional 2-light windows. The porch includes a 6-panel door with chamfered jambs and is topped by an overhanging hipped roof with two corniced ridge stacks on square plinths.
There is a 20th-century addition to the rear that is not of special interest.
