Description

The Kew Railway Bridge is a railway bridge designed by W R Galbraith in 1864 and opened in 1869. It features a lattice girder structure supported by four pairs of iron piers arranged in three stages. Each pier has a round base that carries a drum with four engaged columns. Above track level, there is a tabernacle topped with an arched roof, supported by paired columns that frame an elaborate cast iron screen. The shore ends of the bridge are constructed of red brick with stone dressings, featuring arched entrances adorned with stone bands and pilasters. Part of the bridge is located in the London Borough of Richmond.
