Description

Nos. 5-8 Trinity Almshouses, located on Baker Street, consist of two similar ranges, with Nos. 1-4 to the south of the church and Nos. 5-8 to the north. They are constructed from coursed, squared, rock-faced sandstone and topped with natural slate roofs. Designed in a restrained Tudor style, each single-storey range features four main windows and two shared porches. The porches are accessed through three Tudor arches, with two 2-centred arches flanking a wider 4-centred arch, supported by decorative timber columns and spandrels. Inside the porches, there are Tudor style planked doors and porch seats. The gables have scalloped bargeboards with a central drop over the main windows, which are 2-light mullion-and-transom casements. The roofs are fairly steeply pitched and feature tall Tudor-style chimneys with paired diamond set flues. The Holy Trinity Church, the Almshouses, and the Vicarage form a coherently designed group. The rear elevation and interior were not inspected.
