Description
10 Market Street is an early 20th-century shop designed in the Arts-and-Crafts style, featuring three narrow storeys. The shop front includes panelled flanking pilasters with end brackets supporting a plain replaced fascia. On the right side, there are three-quarter lit doors with panels, flanked by fluted pilaster strips on the inner sides. The lower section has plain windows and a stall board. The upper storeys are constructed of white brick and showcase a two-storey oriel window with three-light mullioned windows and prominent moulded transoms. This oriel window projects on a corbel adorned with a relief mask and foliage. The lower windows feature keystones enriched with foliage, and between the windows is a frieze of festoons painted in bright colours. The upper storey displays more prominent keystones, and the oriel extends up to the parapet level, which has a plain design with a billeted cornice. On either side of the oriel, there are panelled pilasters decorated with stylised classical mouldings. The roof is concealed behind the parapet.
