Description
Bute Chambers is a late Georgian, three-storey building featuring a two-window front facing Cross Street, a one-window curved corner, and a four-window side along Bute Street. The exterior is cement rendered. It has a hipped modern tiled roof with wide boarded eaves and a cement rendered chimney stack on the left side. The building has small pane sash windows, which are horned, except for the two bays to the left of the corner. The corner windows are curved, with the first-floor window being tripartite. There are modern windows on the ground floor and the extreme left of the first floor on the Bute Street elevation, with the latter at least in its original opening.
The Cross Street elevation features a simple classical shopfront that extends around the corner, complete with a bracket cornice and partly fluted pilasters. A half-glazed door is located across the corner, flanked by modern cross frame and single light windows. The central doorway on the Cross Street front is flanked by horned small pane sash windows and a modern window. Additionally, there is a two-window extension uphill on the Cross Street front.
The building has not been inspected but was reordered in the late 20th century for use as office space.
