Description
The chest tomb located in the graveyard of the Church of St Mary Magdalen in Pyle with Kenfig is made of limestone and has an oval shape with rounded extensions at each end. Its convex sides feature fielded panelling, and there is an additional panel at each end beyond fluted pilasters where the extensions begin. The top of the tomb has two wide ogee mouldings and rises to a central peak. Carved acanthus or vine leaves adorn the end extensions. The inscriptions that were lightly cut into the side panels have become almost illegible over time. Originally, the tomb was enclosed by iron railings.
