Description
16 The Struet is a house that stands three storeys tall and features a three-window front. It is constructed of stucco with a plinth and has a slate roof. The top floor has small-pane casement windows that mimic 9-pane sash windows. The first floor contains three 12-pane sash windows. On the ground floor, there is a central doorway flanked by pilasters, topped with an open pediment and a fanlight with tracery, leading to a 6-panelled door where the top two panels are glazed. On either side of the doorway, there are tripartite sash windows with small-pane glazing.
Inside, the house retains a fine staircase dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, featuring stick balusters and turned newels, with scroll decoration on the string. The house also preserves several period doorcases and doors, as well as some original fireplaces.
