Description
The former stable and coach block at Pantglas is a Georgian style building, square in plan with a central courtyard. Constructed of rubble stone, it features rusticated quoins and architraves on the main elevations. The structure consists of two-storey north and south ranges with hipped roofs, and lower single-storey east and west ranges. The original windows are all 24-pane horned sashes.
The main south front is symmetrical with seven bays, including wider projecting central and outer bays and projecting eaves. At the center, there is an elliptical archway with a keystone inscribed "1851." A plat band runs between the storeys, and the central bay is topped with a pediment that has a blind oculus. The east and west elevations are simpler, featuring inserted and replaced windows alongside original horned sash windows with brick dressings. The north elevation has seven small-pane horned sashes in brick dressings on the upper storey, with an arched bridge leading to a detached outbuilding. The lower storey has replaced and inserted windows.
Inside the passage of the south range, there are doorways on either side with flat arches and replaced doors. In the courtyard, the south elevation showcases a central elliptical arch flanked by pairs of slightly lower doorways, some of which are partly blocked and others with inserted glazing and doors. The upper storey features three equally placed sash windows, along with an inserted window in the upper left above the east range. The east range has a four-window layout with a full-height central doorway that has replaced glazing and door, as well as large replaced windows under lintels. The asymmetrical west range includes an elliptical-headed doorway to the right of center, two replaced windows to the left, and a single window to the right with small-pane glazing and wood mullions and transoms. The north elevation has four wide elliptical arches, all blocked except for the left-hand arch which has inserted glazing, along with outer replaced doors under cambered heads. The upper storey contains seven sash windows.
