Description
Trevaughan Bridge is an 18th-century bridge featuring three segmental-pointed arches. The arches are separated by cutwaters on each side, constructed from rubble stone, with cut stone voussoirs. The cutwaters have concrete plinths and cement-capped heads, which are higher on the north side. On the north side, there is a projecting band below the stone parapet, with a stone plaque set into the wall above. Although the plaque is unreadable, it is believed to be dated "1767" and was re-set following the bridge's widening in 1856. The south side of the bridge was widened in 1878, with iron rods and ties added, which are visible as plain disks above the arches on both sides. The original bridge arches, featuring similar cut stone voussoirs, can be seen beneath the later arches on both sides.
