Description
Rock Well is a historic structure set into the bank beside a path. It features a short arched tunnel that is half a metre wide, constructed from local coarse gritstone. Water flows from beneath the arch over a stone sill and is now collected in a slate cattle-trough, which has cemented and bolted joints. This trough likely dates from after the well was no longer used for human needs. To the left of the well, there is a large worn stone that was used for beating cloth. The bank on the right side of the well is supported with stone revetment for a short distance.
