Description

Llwyn Cottage is a red brick house, built in a Flemish bond pattern, dating from the 18th century. It has a slate roof and distinctive dentilled brick eaves. The house has a basement, two storeys and an attic, with three bays; two bays are closely spaced on the left, and one to the right. A large brick chimney is situated on the roof, where it joins Rock House. Two dormers with iron casement windows break the roofline. The windows are arched at the top, surrounded by brick detailing, and feature iron cross windows set close to the wall. A narrow cross window sits above the front door, alongside a wider blank window above a similar-sized iron cross window. Matching iron cross windows are found on each floor to the right, over a cambered-headed basement window. The front door is made of six panels, four of which are glazed, with a four-pane overlight, set within an architrave featuring consoles supporting moulded brackets with a flat hood. The west-facing gable is rendered and contains 20th-century windows on each floor. At the rear, a dormer echoes the style with brick dentilled eaves, alongside a two-storey lean-to on the right, with a further 20th-century lean-to added to the ground floor.

The northeast ground floor room has two chamfered beams and unchamfered joists. Several old doors are present within the southwest, northwest, and southeast walls, as is a narrower door in the southeast wall. The front ground floor room contains two square beams. An oak staircase features mostly turned balusters, but has flat slatted balusters at the top. The attic has old wooden boarded doors and an exposed timber-framed partition.
