Description

Maesyrhelm Baptist Chapel is a Baptist chapel constructed of rubble stone, topped with a half-hipped slate roof. The gable end features slate hanging and includes a large cambered-headed triple window, along with a date plaque that reads 'Maesyrhellem Baptist Chapel Built 1805 Rebuilt 1857'. The ground floor is also made of rubble stone, and there is an added gabled porch. The side walls do not have windows. At the rear gable end, there are two large pointed windows with stone voussoirs, and the timber tracery is likely from the 20th century.

Inside, there is a three-sided painted grained gallery supported by five octagonal timber posts. The gallery front has vertical cambered-headed panels that are grained in a lighter colour. The chapel contains stained pine pews arranged in three blocks, with plain vertical boarding on the backs and shaped ends. Inward-facing pews are positioned on either side of the pulpit, with the front pew of each block forming the set fawr. The pulpit platform is accessed by steps from the sides, featuring open balusters, and is topped with a raked panel displaying an elliptical intersect pattern. The pulpit front has a similar design over plain panelling, and there is a boarded dado. A plaque between the windows commemorates Rev David Davies (d. 1908), and a painted scroll above reads 'Praise ye the Lord'. The painted boarded flat ceiling, divided into three bays, is supported by boarded painted beams and includes three plain roundels.

The boarded lobby has stairs leading up to the gallery in each corner and features two four-panel doors that open into the chapel. The gallery benches are painted and grained, with open backs and shaped ends.
