Description

Howey Hall is a late Georgian villa, standing two storeys high with an attic and featuring a three-bay front. The walls are finished in scribed roughcast, and the roof is slate, supported by a dentilled cornice. To the left, there is a blue-brick stack, while a roughcast square stack is located to the right. The front of the building is symmetrical, with a central bay that is slightly advanced and features a pediment with a radial-glazed lunette. A later porch has a round-headed doorway with a keystone, a fielded panel door, and a plain overlight. An impost band runs around the sides, where round-headed windows are located. Above the porch, there is a balustrade leading to a balcony that has a 4-pane sash window. The lower storey includes French windows, while the upper storey features 6-pane late 19th-century sash windows.

To the right side, there is an added bay with a hipped roof, which contains 4-pane sash windows. Further back on the left side, there is another additional wing with a polygonal end, incorporating late 19th-century 4-pane, 12-pane, and 24-pane sash windows, along with a 4-pane sash window in the upper storey.

At the rear, the earlier house is located centrally behind the late Georgian villa, with a west wing on the right and a service wing on the left, positioned behind the added east wing at the front. The main range has an added lean-to porch and an external lateral stack to its right, featuring a blue-brick shaft. The windows here are 12-pane sashes, including a central stair light. The two-window service wing on the left has a basement with a boarded door and a pair of 2-pane sashes. The lower storey features triple 2-pane sashes on the right and a narrower window on the left, while the upper storey has 4-pane sashes.

Inside, a dog-leg stair with plain balusters and newels is present, and panel doors along with panelled shutters are retained throughout the building.
