Description

Croesnewydd Hall is a two-storey brick building with some stone dressings, including a plinth and angle quoins, and hipped slate roofs. The structure has a shallow U-shape, with the entrance facing west and wings that enclose a small courtyard to the east. The symmetrical entrance front features five bays, with the outer two bays slightly advanced under hipped roofs that continue the main roofline. The central entrance is accessed by steps and is framed by a bolection moulded doorcase, with a window above the door set in a stressed architrave. The windows are sash windows, likely original, and have flat arched stone heads with decorative keyblocks. The basement features stone mullioned windows, and there are two hipped dormer windows in the roof. The return and rear elevations mainly consist of mullioned and transomed windows, with sash windows in the return of the front rooms only. Side entrances lead to hallways at the foot of staircases on each side within, with the stairs illuminated by a mullioned and transomed window at an intermediate height.

Inside, the entrance hall occupies the central range, with principal rooms on either side. The southern room is adorned with bolection moulded panelling, including a dado, main panels, and cornice, along with a ribbed plaster ceiling featuring two lozenge panels divided by a central beam. The room above has dado panelling, and there is panelling with unmoulded rails in one rear upper room. The symmetrical layout includes two staircases positioned in the angle of the main range and rear wings, both extending the full height of the building. The principal staircase to the south has turned balusters and a moulded closed string, while the secondary staircase to the north has a simpler design.
