Description

47 Water Street is a pair of houses, built as part of a larger terrace, likely between 1836 and around 1850. The building is now partly used for commercial purposes. It is rendered, with a slate roof and end wall stacks. Number 47 has decorative details applied to the architraves of the door and windows, and as panels on the bay window, a style first seen in Rhyl in the 1860s. The building is three storeys high, with a basement, and has a four-window facade. Each house has a doorway on the right-hand side, featuring a slim architrave and a fanlight set within a round-headed archway. A canted bay window extends from basement level across the two main floors, incorporating 8-pane and 12-pane sashes, moulded cornices (now absent from No. 47), and a continuous sill band. A 12-pane sash window sits above the doorway, and the upper storey has 9-pane sashes.
