Description
The memorial cross at St Cynbryd's Church is a Celtic cross made of white marble, standing approximately 5 meters high and tapering slightly towards the top. It consists of three sections, with the cross itself resting on a slightly-splayed plinth, which is on a square base. The front (west) face features bold Celtic relief carving with four circular motifs, each containing five bosses and interconnected by zoomorphic interlace. The cross-head displays similar decoration, including cable and guilloche patterns, as well as mythological bird reliefs. Additionally, there is a lamb-and-flag carving in the central roundel on the east (rear) face of the cross-head. The north, south, and east faces of the shaft are adorned with standard Celtic interlace relief carving.
