Description
Bryn Conwy is a storeyed end chimney house built of whitened rubble, featuring a medium-pitched old slate roof. It has large chimneys with weathercoursing and plain capping. The near-central entrance leads to a three-window front, which includes a 20th-century part-glazed door. Above the entrance, there is a renewed lead plaque with the incised date 1774. The front features recessed, square, late 19th-century 4-pane sash windows with projecting slate cills, and the first-floor windows are located under the eaves.
At the rear, there is a long outshut to the right with a modern wood and corrugated iron lean-to adjoining to the left, as well as modern cat-slide dormers on the roof. Inside, the left room, which was the former hall, has a beamed ceiling with stopped-chamfered main beams and plain joists. There is a large inglenook with an ogee-stopped chamfered bressummer that bears a later scratch date of 1774 and the initials 'RW'. A primitive dog-leg stair leads to a narrow central bay opposite the entrance. This stair is made of oak and features a crude newel, flat slat-balusters, and boarded undersides, along with a small balustraded gallery at the landing and a boarded cupboard door under the stair.
