Description
St Mary's Well is a well superstructure built from squared rubble stone, featuring a square plan and a stone pyramidal roof topped with a bronze or copper finial. Each side of the structure has a blank recessed arch with raised rusticated surrounds and raised angle quoins. Above the pyramid roof, there is a plain projecting course, and the roof itself is adorned with tooled stone blocks at the angle ridges and a square apex piece beneath the finial.
Each face of the well has a stone steep gablet with a slate plaque inscribed with the following: on the southwest and northeast sides, it reads "1868 St Mary's Ffynnon Well Fair Rebuilt by the Ailadeiladwyd Corporation of Gan Nefyn Gorfforaeth Nefyn" with the names Robert Thomas and John Jones listed as bailiffs. The southeast side, facing the road, includes the inscription "The Right Honourable Lord Newborough Mayor Hugh Hughes Deputy Mayor John Wilson Recorder."
The rear features a blank plaque and a small boarded door. There are iron railings and a gate on the northeast side, leading down approximately four steps to a sunken area.
