Description

Hen Ysgol is a single-storey school building in the late Georgian style, constructed from coursed rubble stone. It features a hipped roof covered with graded slates and has three added brick ridge stacks. The original symmetrical front has been slightly modified. In the center, there is a re-painted slate panel that reads 'National School erected 1816'.

The entrance to No 7, located on the left side, has a replacement half-glazed panelled door set beneath a stone lintel. To the right of this entrance are two 12-pane hornless sash windows, which are positioned under cambered heads. Above these windows, the space below the original lintels at eaves level has been infilled with brickwork. No 9 features two similar horned sash windows, but the space below the original lintels has been infilled with stonework. There is also a similar window at the right end of No 9, which has vertical joints below the sill, indicating it was originally a doorway. Additionally, No 9 has a recessed entrance on the right side of its right end wall, which contains a modern door.

On the left side wall of No 7, there is a lean-to structure made of scribed roughcast and topped with a corrugated iron roof, which encloses a 12-pane hornless sash window from the main range.

The rear of the building faces a small yard and is constructed of random rubble stone. No 9 has an added flat-roofed projection. No 7 features two replacement windows, with brick infill above the original stone lintels at eaves level. At the right end of No 7, there is a single-storey brick projection beneath a gabled roof, which served as a wash house during the building's history. To the left of center, there is a ty bach made of brick under a pent roof of grouted slates, along with two closets that have boarded doors. The property has not been inspected.
