Description

Rhubeg Grotto, located on Midge Lane in Strone, is a circular garden building from the mid-19th century. It features an exaggerated rubble style similar to the 'Chuckie-stane' gates found nearby. This grotto is a notable example of a garden structure from that period, showcasing a local architectural style. The building is constructed entirely of rubble with a stone roof. At the eaves level, there is a projecting string course that rises to a pediment above the pointed-arch doorway. The materials used include schist and quartz rubble, a timber boarded door, and a leaded window.
