Description

Home Farm at Keir House was designed by David Bryce in 1832 and later remodelled with elaborate additions by Sir William Stirling-Maxwell between 1856 and 1861, with the date 1858 marked on the building. It features a one-and-a-half storey U-plan that encloses a large central cattle court, and includes a three-storey clock tower with a tall roof at the southeast angle, as well as a prominent chimney feature. The structure is built of snecked rubble with ashlar dressings and showcases bold Renaissance details. Inside, there is a dairy that is adorned with fine Minton style pictorial tiles that cover all four walls from floor to ceiling.
