Description
Auchensoul is a traditional farmhouse, likely built around 1797. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a T-shaped plan and gabled roof. The principal southeast elevation features a 20th-century glazed central extension with T-braced bargeboards, and there is a detached steading block to the northeast. The exterior is finished in harled random rubble, with regular window arrangements.
The windows are predominantly timber sash and case, featuring four panes of glass. The gablehead stacks are made of ashlar and topped with thackstanes and clay cans. The roofs are covered with grey slate and include rooflights, while the rainwater goods are made of cast iron.
Inside, there is a stone U-plan central staircase, which has nosing that continues down the sides of the risers.
The steading is a single-storey structure with a steep piend roof and has a U-shaped plan. It features timber-boarded doors.
