Beach Cottage Adjacent To Bod And Slipway, Sand

Bod and Slipway is an 18th-century, two-storey, three-bay former trading booth located with a slipway curving to the northeast and east from the eastern gable, alongside a cottage at the northwest corner.

The Bod features near-symmetrical gabled ends to the east and west, constructed from harl-pointed rubble walls with some brick dressings, and has margined windows and doors. The northern (principal) elevation is near-symmetrical, with a blank center bay at ground level, a wide modern door inserted in the left bay, and a vertically-boarded timber door in the right bay. At the first floor, there are two-leaf vertically-boarded timber doors centered above and square openings in the flanking bays.

The eastern (seaward) gable is a symmetrical two-bay design, featuring a low rubble-infilled segmental-headed cart arch at ground level and rubble-infilled windows in each bay at the first floor. The roof is clad in corrugated sheets, with harl-pointed rubble skews and apex stacks topped with stone copes and circular cans.

The slipway has random rubble sides and a cobbled surface, with some large edging slabs still in place.

Adjacent to the Bod is a single-storey, three-bay symmetrical cottage, also gabled to the east and west. It has a piend-roofed porch that projects at the center of the southern (principal) elevation and a modern addition to the rear (north). The cottage features whitewashed rubble walls, modern glazing, and a slate roof, with stone-coped apex stacks that have circular cans.
