Description
Dated 1884 with later additions and alterations. 3-storey 3-bay terraced tenement with shops at ground. Bull-faced sandstone at 1st and 2nd floor with polished ashlar dressings; whinstone rubble to rear. Cornice above fascia of shops at ground; eaves course; flush long and short quoins; stop-chamfered arrises; tabbed window margins with semi-circular lintel detail.
SE (HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: paired doors to centre bay, 2-leaf panelled to left and panelled door (entrance to No 25) to right with plate glass rectangular fanlight above; window at 1st floor with datestone above. Bay to right with 2-leaf panelled door flanked to outer right by fixed plate glass window; bipartite window at 1st floor above and at 2nd floor, breaking eaves with gabled and finialled dormerhead. Plate glass fixed window with panelled stallriser flanked to outer left by narrow fixed plate glass window (former door); windows as in bay to right at 1st and 2nd floor.
NW ELEVATION: not seen fully, 1995. Single storey additions projecting from outer bays. Later brick window breaking eaves in bay to outer left.
Plate glass timber sash and case windows. Slate roof with ashlar coped stacks. 2-pane 19th century rooflight to SE and NW.
