Bernat Klein Studio

The Bernat Klein Studio, designed by Peter Womersley in 1972, is a late Modernist building featuring a two-storey rectangular plan made of concrete and glass. It is set on a brick plinth and has a cantilevered upper floor that overhangs. The studio includes a side entrance bridge and a central brick service core that extends to the roof. The sides are supported by four main columns and feature deep concrete beams. The ends of the building have large panes of anodised aluminium framed glazing, complemented by heavy metal framed balcony railings and mitred frameless glazing at the corners.

Inside, the studio offers a spacious open plan layout across two floors, centered around the vertical brick core that contains the stairs, kitchen, and WC. There are fitted cabinets beneath deep sills along the long elevations, and a fireplace located in the southeast corner with a square section brick chimney. The interior showcases a simple yet effective use of quality finishing materials throughout. Later kitchen units were added to both floors in 2006.
