Description

Harrietfield is a late 18th-century building with wings added around 1840 and northern and western extensions from the early 20th century. The structure is two stories high with a four-bay gabled central section featuring a small pediment, flanked by lower symmetrical wings with piend roofs. The overall plan is roughly T-shaped. The north (rear) elevation has a first-floor cill course. The front and rear have regular fenestration with raised ashlar margins, including slightly advanced tripartite ground floor windows on the south (front) elevation of the wings, bipartite windows above, and Venetian ground floor windows at the rear. The exterior is finished with white-painted harl/render and sandstone ashlar dressings, some of which are now painted.

The front door, located in the right-hand bay of the central block, is timber-panelled and set within a pilastered architrave. Above the central two bays, there is a small pediment gable with a blind oculus. At the rear, a two-storey piend-roofed wing extends from the center, featuring a canted bay window on the ground floor to the east. There are later extensions attached to the west elevation.

The windows are timber sash and case, with a mix of 12-pane and plate glass glazing. The building has ashlar-coped skews and wallhead and gablehead sandstone stacks with yellow cans. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and has metal flashings.

Inside, the drawing room features four wooden Corinthian columns at the west end, a deep moulded cornice, a central rose, and doors with deeply moulded architraves. The hallway has a flattened arch supported by double scrolled brackets, and throughout the building, there are six-panelled timber doors.
