Description
37 and 39 Roxburgh Street in Kelso is an early 19th century building featuring four bays and three storeys. The ends of the building have giant order pilaster strips that are rusticated at the ground floor. The continuous ground floor pilastraded shop front is preserved at No 43 and at the central door, although No 37 has a modern shop front. The upper floors are rendered, with the left side lined to resemble ashlar and the right side imitating rock-faced rubble. The right-hand bays have modern glazing. A moulded cornice breaks forward over the pilasters. The elevation facing Union Street has three bays, constructed of coursed squared rubble with polished dressings, and features a slated roof with brick stacks.
