Description

Black Barony is a building that originated as a 16th century tower-house. It was updated in the early 18th century, expanded during the Victorian era, and further extended in the present century when it was converted into a hotel. The mansion, sometimes referred to as Darnhall, was owned by the Murrays of Blackbarony in the early 16th century and was later passed to the Murrays of Elibank in 1771, who kept it until 1930. One of the most striking features of the building is the main entrance facade, which is primarily from the 18th century and is flanked by two square towers topped with bellcast roofs.
